My name is Liz Wann and I live and write in the Fresh Prince of Belair’s hometown: West Philadelphia. I live in a 3 story row home and enjoy city life; my home church is just a few blocks away. I’ve been married 8 years to Josh. He’s done some pretty cool things, like start a Christian rap/hip hop record label and a video company. He currently works as the senior videographer for American Bible Society, while also doing freelance film and photography jobs – and personal projects – on the side.

On September 10, 2012 we had our first son, Simon. He is the one who made me a stay at home mom, and I love it. We gave Simon a little brother named Eli on October 11, 2014, and we just had our daughter, Chloe, on January 6, 2018. I’ve always done home preschool, but this past year (2017/2018) I started Kindergarten with my oldest and have begun getting into the Charlotte Mason method/philosophy. So, I guess you can officially call me a homeschooling mom.

Before becoming a wife and mom, I went to Rollins college in Winter Park, FL (Orlando is my hometown) and received my B.A. in English and writing. Besides staying home and taking care of my boys (plus baby girl), I do freelance writing for various ministries/publications, including Truth for Life with Alistair Begg. I’m a regular contributor for Desiring God Ministries and editor in chief at Morning by Morning.

A Bit More About Me

Things I like to do besides writing:

Reading (I love smelling books), baking, cooking (my husband and I are big foodies), sometimes crafting, decorating, taking care of my sourdough starter and making bread and other baked goods with it (I really geek out about sourdough and the art of bread making). My husband and I enjoy watching movies and TV shows together.

I also enjoy drinking coffee and loose leaf tea at unique coffee shops – or at home – and listening to music, namely: pop, indie, folk, rock, and classics like Bob Dylan, the Beetles, and Johnny Cash. I’m into fashion and personal styling, as is my husband, so we enjoy shopping with each other. We also appreciate any type of visual art. Lastly, I enjoy thinking deeply and critically about social topics and theology, and even the connection between the two.

  6. Hey Liz, Yes, I went to WP High and moved away for college years and since… but it’s still my hometown. My family lives in China now but we’ll be visiting back in Orlando this fall. If you happen to visit then I would LOVE to get to meet you and chat about all your beautiful writing and the Savior we both dearly love. Every blessing to you, in Christ!

    1. Wow. That’s great. I grew up in the Orlando area for 14 years. Didn’t leave until right before I married my husband. And then we came back for the wedding. We’re actually in Orlando right now! So, we won’t be back in the fall. We tend to come out every year though. Let me know whenever you are in Orlando or even Philly.

  7. Hi Liz! I too have been married for 6 years, had our first son in 2012. And am now a boy mom of three boys! Just wanted you to know I am encouraged by your recent article on parenting from ERLC. My husband and I see exciting things happening in our family spiritually and it makes us so excited to see God doing his miraculous work in hearts of our kids. Take care and God bless!
